VVV-Venlo is a Dutch football club from Venlo that was founded on February 7, 1903. The abbreviation VVV stands for 'Venlose Football Association'. The VVV-Venlo uniform consists of a yellow shirt with a black stripe through it, black pants and yellow socks. In the 70s and 80s the club played in red and white for several years. The club has played its home games in De Kraal Stadium for a long time. Since March 1972, De Koel Stadium has been the home base for VVV-Venlo. This stadium is literally located in a hole (cool is Venloos dialect for hole) located on the Kaldenkerkerweg, on top of the steep edge in the east of Venlo. The stadium once managed to accommodate 24,500 spectators during the VVV-Ajax match in 1977 (2-2). In 2004, De Koel was thoroughly renovated.
